NEW NutreeLife Vegan Burger Mix

The latest addition to the NutreeLife family is a vegan burger mix. Available in three flavours; piri piri, fajita and italian herb, these are the first savoury release from the brand and I couldn't wait to get my hands on it! It was a tough decision, but I decided to go with the piri piri for my first try... homemade Nandos vibes?

Cooking

I decided to do something a little different as I had the idea to make spicy vegan meatballs. This worked brilliantly. All you need to do to prepare the mix is add a little water, shape, and cook each side in a pan. Ready in 5-10 minutes all together. I've been making more than one batch at a time to take to work the following day for lunch.

On this occasion I served my 'meatballs' with wholemeal pasta, peas, spinach and this yummy sriracha mayo (pictured) *also vegan* which I found in Lidl.

Taste Test

These are suprisingly spicy! Luckily for me, I love that. With vegan alternatives especially, I think that flavour and seasoning is everything.

The only downside is I feel is that they keep quite a powdery taste... almost like how the powder used to create the sauce in instant noodles is when it hasn't been fully mixed, if that makes sense to everyone!

Nevertheless, I absolutely love the taste and versatility of the mix and will continue to experiment with it. Check out the NutreeLife instagram page for more inspiration!

Nutrition

I can't fault NutreeLife for the macros and ingredient profile for these. 17g of protein with such low fat and calorie content is rare for a vegan product and I feel this would be a great staple food option in a vegan diet as an alternative to protein sources such as tofu or vegan quorn.

The ingredient list for this flavour is as follows:

Textured Pea Protein (Pea Protein, Pea Flour, Salt), Gram Flour, Pea Protein Isolate, Chia Seeds, Piri Piri Spice Mix (Paprika, Chilli Powder, Dried Onion, Ground Bay Leaf, Black Pepper, Dried Garlic, Citric Acid), Black Pepper, Salt.

Easy to understand and no 'fillers', just high quality ingredients including chia seeds and pea protein. Round of applause please!

Value

Currently priced at £14.99 for 14 servings, I feel that this is quite fair considering the ingredients and NutreeLife being a smaller brand at present. Keep reading for a limited time only 20% discount...

Overall

8.5/10. I can't wait to try the other two flavours!
